Together, with Fr. Mike, we examine the wound of abortion. Fr. Mike emphasizes that all human life deserves protection, especially the unborn, but he also emphasizes the importance of God’s mercy. He explains that those who have procured an abortion are excommunicated, subject to the conditions established by Canon Law. However, the excommunication does not limit the scope of God’s mercy, but rather highlights the gravity of the sin. Fr. Mike concludes by highlighting that if abortion is a part of your story, you are encouraged to take the step towards confession and forgiveness, to be met with mercy and love and be welcomed home. Logan Paul Gage is Associate Professor of Philosophy at Franciscan University of Steubenville. Responding to Criticism (An update on the Matt Fradd Show)

What Can You Do When Another Won't Forgive?

God created heaven and earth — all that we see and all that we don’t see. We learn that the earth is filled with men and many things we can see, but our faith tells us that there are many things on earth that we cannot see, including the presence of God and angels. Fr. Mike explains how human beings are spiritual and corporeal creatures, but angels are immortal, purely spiritual creatures. He tells us more about the role of angels and how, possessing intellect and will, they too are created to glorify God. Today’s readings are Catechism paragraphs 325-330.

Day 46: Heaven and Earth (2025)

It’s episode #666 and instead of skipping over it, Fr. Jacob and Fr. Mike dive into the scriptural meaning of the number 666 and the mark of the beast exploring various interpretations: historical, scriptural and even some of Fr. Mike's personal theories.

We talk about what it means to believe and hold on to God's promises even in dark times and we reflect on Mary's "fiat". Thank you for being obedient!</li> <li>Heather's One Thing - Soup!</li> </ul> Here's the recipe for Heather's Potato Soup 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup flour 3-4 cloves garlic 1 small onion chopped fine 6 medium potatoes washed, unpeeled, and diced medium 2 cups chicken stock 2 cups milk half pound of bacon diced and cooked till crispy salt, pepper, paprika to taste 1tbsp or more of chicken Bouillon paste for additional flavor at the end <ul> <li>Melt 1/2 cup butter in large pot over medium heat</li> <li>add garlic and onion and sauté</li> <li>after about 2-3 minutes sprinkle in all the flour and stir</li> <li>cook for about 2 minutes</li> <li>slowly add milk and whisk while you add it</li> <li>Add chicken stock</li> <li>Add diced potatoes, salt, pepper, paprika</li> <li>Bring to a boil, stirring regularly</li> <li>put on lid and simmer on low, stirring regularly</li> <li>When everything thickens either puree soup with hand blender or partially mash potatoes in the pot with masher.</li> <li>If it needs more flavor, add chicken bouillon paste and mix through</li> <li>Add crispy bacon</li> <li>serve with yummy bread :)</li> </ul> Discussion Questions: <ol> <li>Have you ever noticed God in an inconvenient interruption?</li> <li>What do you need to be obedient to right now and make your own "fiat" (yes) to?</li> <li>In what areas of your life do you find it hard to trust God? Sickness and suffering bring us face-to-face with our fragility and limitations. While they might cause some to lose hope and become bitter, we can also endure them in such a way as to grow in maturity and trust in God. Jesus not only heals the sick in the Gospels but also plunges into suffering’s depths. In this redemptive work, we know Jesus as the physician of soul and body. Day 205: Christ the Physician (2024)

How is the meaning of marriage different in the New Covenant? The Catechism teaches us today that Christ elevates the gift of marriage to a sacrament and restores the original order of this powerful union between man and woman. Fr. Mike explains why marriage looked different in the Old Covenant and how God was preparing his chosen people throughout time to accept Christ’s law of marriage. May 19, 2017 - St. Therese, Day 12: Confidence in God

As we continue to follow the missions of Paul and Barnabas, Fr. Mike highlights the fickle nature of humanity and the futility of striving for the praise of men. He also encourages us to remain courageous in the tribulations we face, finding strength in other believers, and running toward the eternal and imperishable goal of salvation. Day 335: Run the Race (2025)

Fr. Mike touches upon the prophecy of judgment against Babylon and Israel, and how God still promises to be Israel's redeemer despite their disobedience.
